transmitter2ears (2024)

performance | audio installation | parabolic reflectors

with: Andreas Zißler

transmitter2ears was a live performance/installation for an audience on-site and extended audience listening via radio broadcast. Two parabolic speakers, binaural microphones, radio transmission and a synthesizer where used to form an audio-feedback loop, open to the sounds of the environment. A performer/musician equipped with binaural microphones, was wandering through the landscape, interacting with the audio-field of the highly directive speakers and changing the sound through positioning and subtle movements of the body. During the performance, different speaker constellations and situations where constructed and the borders between performer, listener, musician and landscape softened.

The sounds picked up by the binaural microphones provided an audio stream from the "perspective" of the performer which was broadcasted for the radio audience on WGXC 90.7-FM and wavefarm.org/listen.

“transmitter2ears” was done in collaboration with Andreas Zißler as part of the Wave Farm Artist in Residence Programm. Special thanks to the Team of Wave Farm for their support during the production period.
